One of our favourite inclusive playgrounds is getting a cool upgrade! If you thought Livvi's Place Playground at Bernie Mullane Reserve in Kellyville couldn't get any better, prepare to be wowed. This family-favourite spot in The Hills is about to get a massive glow-up with loads of impressive upgrades.

Thanks to a cool $2 million investment from The Hills Shire Council (with $1.1 million from the NSW Government's Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants), the all-abilities playground is about to get bigger, more exciting, and more welcoming for kids of all ages and abilities.

What's Coming to the New Bernie Mullane Playground?

Livvi's Place Playground at Bernie Mullane Reserve in Kellyville already ticks all the boxes for a family day out—it's fully fenced, offers loads of shady spots, has cool play equipment, and even a water play feature! But brace yourselves for even more fun because the upgrade will introduce a multi-activity play tower designed for all abilities, perfect for some next-level adventuring. Sydney kids will also get a double flying fox, slides, a climbing net, and swings suited for both little ones and bigger kids.

And because accessibility is a big deal here, they're adding a fully equipped 'Changing Places' amenities building complete with an overhead hoist, shower, and toilet to make sure everyone can enjoy the playground. The new building will also have unisex ambulant cubicles, ensuring that families with diverse needs feel supported and comfortable during their visit.

More Fun (and Practical) Additions

Of course, a playground isn't complete without shady spots to chill out after all the action. The upgrades to Livvi's Place Playground at Bernie Mullane Reserve will include shade sails, picnic shelters, and wide pathways so everyone can move around easily. Families will love the new dry creek bed (nature play for the win!) and accessible park furniture—perfect for parents to rest up while the kids run wild.

Closure & Opening Date

The playground will be partially closed from September 2024, with some sections of the current playground off-limits during construction. But don't stress—the Council is working hard to keep the water play area and other sections open as long as possible, so there will still be plenty to enjoy!

Bernie Mullane Reserve is already known as one of the best spots for family fun in the Hills, and these new additions are going to take things to a whole new level. The upgrades are set to be completed by March 2025—we can't wait!

Location

10 Marella Ave, Kellyville

Opening Times

Parts of the playground remain open daily. The new upgrades are set to be completed by March 2025 (weather permitting).
