The cold change in the air switches on a colourful time for Sydney, yes it's Vivid 2018! The festival of light, music and art runs through to June 16 (quick, it's almost over!). We were lucky enough to be invited to attend the media preview at Taronga Zoo, once again shining a light on the wonders of wildlife and endangered animals with Lights for the Wild.

Vivid Sydney Creative Director, Ignatius Jones said, “Taronga Zoo is a family favourite that will engage and inspire the next generation of conservation champions as they discover the wonders of wildlife through an absolutely captivating interactive experience”.

Some of last year's animals have returned but you may notice they have changed slightly from previous years and there's also 19 brand new installations. Guest step through the mouth of a giant Port Jackson Shark as it splashes two stories high through the façade of Taronga’s heritage entrance.

One of my favourite additions this year is the installations drawn by school children. They are fun and inspiring. We were lucky enough to meet some of these clever kids and their extremely proud families.

Many of the installations move and the chameleon has an interactive component where kids can change the reptile’s colour via touch pads. It’s a lot of fun.

Like previously years, be sure to rug up because boy it gets cold! It’s easy to follow along the marked track. Visitors can show their support to conservation of fragile ecosystems with a glowing yellow ribbon at Ties for the Wild. For every ribbon tied, major sponsor American Express will make a donation to Taronga’s wildlife conservation.

Session start times: 5:30pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm (approx. 2hrs experience)
