By Stacey Roberts, ellaslist
Oh little round rings of sugary yeast joy, blessed donut, you are divine.
And when you need to get the best of the best? Why, look no further than these Melbourne hotspots to get your candied fix.
All Day Donuts, Brunswick
We can't talk about donuts in Melbourne without talking about All Day Donuts in Edward St, Brunswick, the donuts that finally convinced me after 20-odd years that I actually do like donuts after all - when they're done right, which Raph and his pals absolutely do.
Every day is a jumble of new flavours alongside old favourites like the OG Glaze and the pink sprinkled Don Homer. If you can get it, go the Iced Vovo or the lemon cheesecake, and check out their specials - this year they had Easter egg shaped donuts filled with salted caramel, cute bunnies, and orange-flavoured flower shapes for Mother's Day.
The donuts are erved alongside great coffee and locally-produced soft drinks it's a great spot for a mid-morning pickup or afternoon treat.
Find them: 12 Edward St, Brunswick

Doughboys Doughnuts, CBD
Behind the fancy, fancy names (blueberry glazed pistachio praline filled with lemon curd perhaps?) lies super-tasty discs of glory at this popular spot.
Recent choices have included Macadamia Shake, Pecan Pie, Apple Pie, Milk Chocolate Cheesecake, and Roasted Chestnut, and if any of them are to go by, you'll never be let down with boring doughnuts at Doughboys.
If you're not in the CBD, you can head to one of the cafes that sell them too!

American Doughnut Kitchen, Queen Victoria Market
Be part of history when you grab a hot jam doughnut at this favourite market stop, which has been serving out hot fried balls of doughy goodness filled with sweet raspberry jam sine 1950.
All of their ingredients are sourced from Australia and the doughnuts are entirely Australian owned and made by this second generation family business.
Five of these sugary treats are $5.50 which makes them an incredibly affordable treat and absolutely unmissable on those frosty winter browsing sessions.
