We can’t go ahead and celebrate Book Week 2017 without sharing a marvellous selection of books for kids from 0 to 7+ years. Bored of seeing the same old recommendations? The experts at Reading Eggs have come up with some fantastic titles to liven up reading time at home.

0 -2 years

Kissed by the Moon by Alison Lester

The much-loved Australian author, Alison Lester has done another fantastic job with this beautiful book. Part lullaby, part poem, this gentle story celebrates a baby’s wonder at our amazing world.

Pig The Pug by Aaron Blabey

“It’s mine, mine, mine – go away!” We love this book in our house. It’s a humorous tale of the dog who wouldn’t share. The illustrations are just fantastic – you can’t miss the bulgy eyes and flat nose staring out from the front cover. Aaron Blabey is a tremendously talented artist and has done a range of books for children. 

3 – 6 years

Tikki Tikki Tembo by Arlene Mosel, Illustrations by Blair Lent

A retelling of a Chinese folktale about two young boys and one ridiculously long name. The pace and tempo of this book engages children and they will undoubtedly try to join in trying to get the name right.

Puffling by Margaret Wild, Illustrations by Julie Vivas

This exquisitely drawn book shows how love helps you grow courageous and ready to tackle the world.
An excellent story to use for ‘firsts’ to ease children into new situations and relationships. The dynamite team of Margaret Wild and Julie Vivas are staples for any collection of must-read children’s stories.

7 years +

The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt Illustrations by Oliver Jeffers

Citing many grievances, these crayons decide to go on strike. Hilarity ensues, it encourages children to think creatively about innate objects they use and is a fantastic springboard for creative writing.
