Buddha ‘s Day and Multicultural Festival

Happy Buddha’s Day!
To celebrate the 22nd year of this event, let your kids experience this multi-faith society by watching traditional Buddhist ceremonies, including Bathing the Buddha, Tea Meditation and Twilight Light Offering Ceremony. There are also multicultural music and dance performances, tai chi classes, children’s activities an animal farm and even collective prayers for world peace.
Vegetarian food is all the rage here, of course, and the Taste of Asia food fest has flavours your kids will love.

Visions of Spain

If you’ve got older kids who can sit still and listen, music-lovers in your family might appreciate this event.
Gerard Mapstone is one of Australia’s leading classical and flamenco guitarists and he performs here with Leyenda del Tiempo as part of the 2017 Guitar Perspectives Concert Series.
Expect superior playing that any budding guitarists should love – especially if they are studying the intricacies of classical guitar and want to motivate themselves to knuckle down to doing those boring scales.

Comics Workshops

The workshops are open to everyone from age group between 15-year olds to 30-year olds – perhaps something your teenage budding artists will love.
Local artist David Piper takes participants through the important points of comic styles – and shows the students effective techniques for generating ideas. All materials are provided and all skill levels are welcome.

Teddy Bears’ Picnic - Ascot Vale Library

Gather up the kids for a wonderful Teddy Bears’ Picnic! Spend the morning listening  to the kid's favorite bear stories, songs and dances. It’s sure to be a surprise! Bring all the teddies along and enjoy the yummy morning tea to share afterwards. It's free for all but a gold coin donation for Cancer Council will be appreciated.
